You will be given a warm welcome by our representative by presenting a fresh flower fragrant garland; hoping to refresh you from your tiring journey. You will be taken to your hotel for check-in and left for the day to explore the city life on your own. Cochin is now better known as Kochi that has its major part, lying on the south-west the coast of India by the Arabian Sea. No wonder it is known as the “Queen of Arabian City”. The city has a long history of colonization with the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British anointing it as a princely state. Kochi has a tropical monsoon climate for the major part of the year thereby making it a favorable place to visit especially if a globetrotter is out from a taxing tour from the harsher climatic conditions. Kochi is a very beautiful mix of history dating back from such kingdoms as Cholas and Pallavas to the more contemporary colonial rule. Each and every element of the city bears religious significance in the form of churches and temples that have kept the reins of the erstwhile rulers poignant. The night will be spent at the hotel.

The night will be spent at the hotel.

St. Francis church, the oldest to be built is your starting point of the tour to a city that has preserved the grunge and magnificence of the Portuguese and Dutch colonial rule. Santa Cruz Basilica with a consummated rooftop; Chinese fishing nets close to the harbor's passage to Cochin and Synagogue that has Hebrew scripts inscribed on copper plates; Paintings of Ramayana and Mahabharata, palanquins of erstwhile Cochin rulers as well. The murals depicting the events of Ramayana and Mahabharata in the city built and developed by the Portuguese are definitely a different site if not rare. How many people will be on my trip?
Good things come in small packages, which is why we keep our group sizes down. This means we’re small enough to remain flexible as we thread our way through communities without intimidating the locals. On most of our trips, you’ll be part of an intimate group of 12-16 people, though our group sizes are on average 10 people. Our Overland trips are in purpose-built vehicles that can carry up to 24 travelers. Group sizes are displayed on each trip’s overview page on our website.
Can I just do part of the trip?
Although you won’t be reimbursed for any portion of the trip unused, you can opt to sign off the trip if you need to leave a day or so earlier. If you let us know before travel that you’ll be arriving late or need to leave before the end of the trip, we will notify our team on the ground to best accommodate your requirements.
